US Airways

US Airways offers special rates to military personnel traveling on an officially excused absence and to discharged personnel within seven days of discharge. Special rates are also applicable for military dependents who must be a relative of the military passenger. A military dependent must present a Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card marked "active."

Operation Hero Miles

Free Military Air Travel: Operation Hero Miles allows troops stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan to fly home on leave for free. It also gives family members of wounded servicemen and women free plane tickets to visit their loved ones recovering at military hospitals across the country. Operation Hero Miles gives ordinary citizens an opportunity to help our troops in a very direct way that makes a real difference in their lives.

Greyhound

Greyhound is proud to carry those who serve our country. Active duty and retired military personnel and their dependent family members may receive a 10 percent discount off the Greyhound walk-up (unrestricted) fare. Another option for military personnel is to travel on Greyhound for a maximum fare of $198 round trip anywhere in the continental United States. With the Veterans Advantage Discount Card, members can save 15 percent on walk-up fares at the terminal or online.

Amtrak

Active-duty US military personnel, their spouses and their dependents are eligible to receive a 10% discount on the lowest available rail fare on most Amtrak trains, including for travel on the Auto Train. Children (ages 2-15) of active-duty US military personnel are eligible to receive a 10% discount in addition to the everyday children's 50% discount on the lowest available adult rail fare on most Amtrak trains, including for travel on the Auto Train. You must present a valid active-duty United States Armed Forces identification card.
